Muddy Mahers

Venue has Regular Live Music Venue Has Live Games Venue Serves Food Venue has Smoking Area

Pearse Street

Muddy Maher’s is one of Kinsale’s busiest bars, and with good reason!

We offer great food, interesting draft beer options and a super live music line up, throughout the year.
The entire is then further complemented by the friendliest barstaff in town. It all adds up to explaining why Muddy’s is probably one of Kinsale’s more famous hostelrys.

Decorated in warm colours, with comfortable seating, a log fire and ample space, Muddys ticks all the right boxes, for a pleasant drinking or casual dining adventure!

With our walls covered in a multitude of interesting frames and artefacts to keep the solo traveller entertained for hours, a well designed food offering catering for all budgets and tastes, it’s a great bar to visit. Our kitchen crew are innovative and as a result our menus change regularly. We can cater for large and small partys. You bring the excuse, we’ll do the rest. Come talk to us about your food or music requirements and we’re sure that we can accommodate your wishes and your budget!

Our walls are littered with interesting frames, from the visit of  former U.S. President Ronald Reagan to Ballyporeen (Owner John worked there at The Press Tent Bar) to photos comemorating Muddys numerous visits to Newport, Rhode Island, U.S.A. – a twin/sister city of Kinsale. In June 2006 our chef Michelle Donohoe and John Maher were interviewed on national television by American t.v. legend Ira Joe Fisher, when Michelle’s Chowder (titled ‘Muddy’s Mystery Chowder’) competed in the Schweppes Chowder Cook Off. We didn’t win! But we’ll go back, possibly in 2008, to try again!

Some of Ireland’s greatest sporting moments are collected from the sports pages of The Irish Times and The Irish Examiner, intermingled with local heroes and some obscure references to John’s wife Kathleen. Herself a much decorated former Irish International athlete. Not to mention photos of some famous sports stars that have passed through our bar too. Photographs record some of Kinsale’s Fringe Jazz Festival famous launch parties, musicians that have graced (and disgraced!) our stage, and many more events, too numerous to mention, as the cliché goes.

Come see for yourself!
